Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - a few good tracks...

I've been a NIN fan for years, but am continually disappointed when each new album (post-spiral) is released. There are always a few too many mediocre songs, cliche lyrics and formulaic song structures which get in the way of an otherwise brilliant album.

Of course I'm incredibly pleased to have just downloaded the new 'slip' album (not so new anymore though) and ill be playing it for the next week or so. But it always annoys me when Trent doesn't reach his potential. The main flaws of this album are also characteristic of 'With Teeth' and 'Year Zero' - too many cliche lyrics which Trent has been using for over a decade, and heavy songs which all sound identical (or else lack the artistry and experimental edge of Spiral and Broken). He also needs to put more effort into the drum beats in his songs (they tend to sound way too standardised), which is a surprise considering he's been influenced by guys like aphex twin.

I still hope NiN will one day create an album which does justice to Trent's skills. but even if they dont, they remain a long-lived band with an awesome assortment of great songs (alongside the crappy ones).

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Okay
Not the best NIN, but far better than the most recent noise they have released. At least this cd has some actual songs with lyrics! I'm all for different directions and such, but when it's just a bunch of "instrumentals" dub it some other name than NIN. I grew up listening to Pretty Hate Machine and Broken, that's NIN. So with that said, this is their best cd in a long time. Still not great like the previously mentioned titles, but listenalbe.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Slip Vinyl Experience
Being a NIN fan, this was an obvious buy. Also the fact that I like to kick back and listen to my vinyl's. Awesome stuff.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Ye
Trent Reznor released this ablum for free online... yet I purchased the limited numbered copy to help support his forward thinking music model. The album also included a great bonus video DVD along with some other goodies that just made me love my purchase all the more. My favorite tracks off the album are 1,000,000, EchoPlex, Demon Seed... ahh hell, I love the whole ablum!

Tired of being screwed by the record labels? The help support acts like Nine Inch Nails that put music out the right way.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome music, numbered collectors item
Ok, I'll be honest here. I havent opened this album, since I got the music for free from nin.com. I got this physical CD as a collectors item only. I've also watched all the rehearsal videos on YouTube, etc, and they are all top notch. The only thing I havent seen is the booklet and the stickers, but this thing is staying sealed.

All About N-Gage have the dirt on a game that looks like it has a lot of potential: Asphalt: Urban GT.  I can't say that I've played much more than some FIFA and other random stuff on the N-Gage, but a good racer can add a lot of value to a gaming platform.  Of course I'm still waiting to see if Call of Duty rocks as much as it should.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on Tuesday signaled a readiness to lower U.S. interest rates in a dramatic shift to support an economy battered by a financial crisis of "historic dimension."

I've heard it said by Dave Winer and many many others: if only Dean had reinvested half the money raised into the Internet, then ...

OK, so you're the Dean Campaign Chief Information Officer in August 2003. The money starts to roll in. $20 million over six months, $2-4 million per month.

What would you spend the money on?

  1. What does your monthly budget look like?
  2. What is your application and infrastructure portfolio?
  3. How much will you allocate to maintenance?
  4. You're building from scratch, so what problems do you hope to avoid through wise architecture?
  5. What are your big milestones?
  6. Who are your key vendors?

How do you spend in consonance with the campaign strategy?

  1. How will you use the Internet to bring offline voters into the campaign at the same numbers as radio or television broadcasts?
  2. What is your online strategy for responding to attack ads and opposition pundits in radio, television and print?
  3. Online community takes time to build and is very hard to organize geographically. What will you do to match the state-by-state primary schedule?
  4. What can you do with online services to serve the campaign in caucus states?
  5. You are preparing for Bush to launch in Spring 2004. What are your countermeasures to reach out to moderate Republicans online while the GOP uses its advanced voter email systems to barrage 200 million validated email addresses?
  6. How will you lower the cost-per-vote vs. the GOP?

Imagine if the Obamas had hooked up with a violently anti-American group in league with the government of Iran.
