Pretty good thump
I am a big fan now and recommend it to everyone.
This cd sounds pretty good in our audio system. Love the lyrics all the way around! We actually love alot of bass sounds and some of these songs had it but the majority of them didnt! Its still great anyway :)

Mac and Diverse City- awesome
I love this album. It is incredibly catchy, groovy, and just an excellent showing of musicianship. Toby Mac is an awesome songwriter and the lyrics, are an amazing profession of his faith.

Take'em Wherever You Go
"Portable Sounds," TobyMac's third solo effort of original work, is almost a continuation of it's predecessor, "Welcome To Diverse City." Opening with the soulful "One World" and then spilling into a wonderful mixture of rap, pop, soul, rock, hip hop, a little funk and Reggae, this album feels both fresh and comfortable at the same time. There seems to be less rock influence on this album, but "Boomin'" has a nice blend of it along with some soul. Songs like "I'm For You" and "Suddenly" highlight the pop sounds while "Feelin' So Fly" gets funky. Lighter fare such as "All In" will probably make its way to Contemporary Christian Radio and "No Signal" gives the listener some reggae pop.
As with all of TobyMac's albums, there are a few interludes. The highlight has to be "Mr. Talkbox" in my opinion. DC Talk fans will get a taste of the past when they hear "Face of the Earth." It hearkens back to some of DC Talk's lighter pop tunes.
All of the songs on this album are clear on one thing: They are Christian and aren't shy to tell you about it. There is no questioning T-Mac's motives, and it's great to see an artist with so much talent to be so unafraid of expressing his faith. Much like rock pioneers Petra, T-Mac does not back down or compromise in order to get his music on Top 40 or ACC radio. This guy is a whiz at what he does, and "Portable Sounds" is definitely a travel-worthy collection of tunes. Highly recommended.

Lovin' it so far
I haven't even finished the album yet, but I am lovin' it so far. I've been a Toby fan since he was "spinnin' round" with Mike and Kevin. I have thoroughly enjoyed tobyMac's radio releases so I finally got the album.
The music is great, but what I love the most is that the message of Christ and focus on God are in the forefront with *no apologies*. It is a welcome contrast to songs from Christian artists that subtly obscure that message.
Looking forward to checking out Toby's previous solo albums...

tobyMac and The Mac Is Back, No Slack
It took awhile, but the master finally made it on his own. This is in short a near-perfect album. There's something for everyone here, and more. But, you can't experience the true joy of this album without listening to the CD through some very good speakers, turned way up. This is truly some great driving music.
The album is everything you want and more. It's catchy, it's rockin' but it also slows down, the beats are INCREDIBLE, but most importantly almost every song is memorable. You won't forget this album anytime soon.
However, the only thing keeping this album from being perfect is Trudog. Yes, the kid is cute, and sometimes funny, but he's been on every single record. We need a break from the dog.
Other than that, the album is a must-listen. However, I wouldn't recommend buying the album until the fall, when the special edition comes out, according to this very site. Get this, and you're sure to maximize the money you spent. So far, one of the best albums of the year. Is there anything the Mac can't do?
