I am always up for making new friends and discussing the music I love!!! Rating: - I have a new favorite song...The title song is absolutely beautiful. Sexy, romantic, fun. I really enjoy the songs that have a Caribbean feeling. There is one rap song that I honestly dislike. It is not that Carly does it poorly; it is just that I don't think ANYONE does a decent rap song. My old Carly records are too scratchy to listen to any longer. I have gained a new appreciation of her talent & intend to re-buy previous albums. Rating:  - The Kind of LoveI was so excited that Carly Simon had a new release and could nolt have been more disappointed. Her voice is gone and she can't seem to sustain a note anymore. She should never have made this CD or she should have recorded more standards more suited to the octave she is comfortable with. I shoved the cd in a drawer and hopefully will remember not to play it again. Rating: - THIS Is The KIND OF LOVE We've Been Waiting For!!I've got to admit....upon my first listen, I was less than thrilled with THIS KIND OF LOVE, Carly Simon's first album of all-new original material in eight years. Maybe it was all the advance hype, or my own (incredibly high) expectations. But then a funny thing happened...the album I heard on my second listen was not the album I heard on my first...and the album I heard on my fifth spin was not the same one as on my third. By the time I had a dozen or so listens under my belt, well, I had a whole new appreciation for THIS KIND OF LOVE. The fact that I'm able to type this blog entry less than a week after the operation has me hopeful that recovery will be quicker than I was led to believe, but it will still be a few weeks before I'm able to really tackle any serious work.
