It is also one of the best records of it's time. I can't help hearing goodness knows how many influences this has generated. It has every trick in the book and, when you thought 'ground breaking' artists were responsible for some great sonic virtuosity, Dennis had already been there. It is truly a legacy. Rating: - Under-Welmed To Say The LeastAt best Dennis Wilson was a medicore back-up singer and an abysmal drummer. Had it not been for the formitable talent of his older brother Brian, Dennis Wison's fifteen minutes of fame would have been reduced to his passing friendship with the deranged Charlie Manson. As a life-long Beach Boy fan, I'm amazed that Pacific Ocean Blue has had such lasting impact. It's clear to me that Dennis had no voice at the time of this recording. His song writing ability was extremely limited and the arrangements, on this album are bland and lifeless. What on earth are all these five star reviewers listening to? All I hear is the hollow, soul-less voice of a burnt-out and over-the-top old surfer. Sorry Dennis. ... So we have to doe with what he has left us, very great music. Rating: - super!Such a great album. Will be one of my very favorites for years to come. Thank you for releasing it again. I have been waiting sooooooo long. Rating: - Dennis Wilson the 20th century composer.Whoever decided to reissue this music thank you very very much.I have read some reviews about Dennis Wilson with people painting him as an addictive madman who threw his life and talent away. There may be some truth to that, but from what i've been reading from the people who knew him everyone agrees that the man had a legendary heart and the warmth he gave off to people has not diminished even now.Dennis only lived to be 39,this is true, but to my ears what he accomplished musically in less than 40 years should be considered legendary.Forget all the drugs and woman crap that is so commonly associated with his name. Please listen to the man's music. You know who else only lived to be 39;Frederic Chopin ...
